33 Variations
A Beethoven Scholar is driven to solve the genius’ greatest mystery while her own life rumbles around her: all gracefully underscored by a live pianist sharing the stage. In a journey that spans 200 years, 33 Variations is a sublime waltz between past and present, fact and speculation, art and life, mother and daughter.
On February 23rd, Center Theatre Group's production of 33 Variations played host to 1,269 students, teachers, administrators and parents from 24 schools and community organizations. Below are some photos from the performance and feedback we received from the students and educators.
"This play was enlightening to me because this would be the first professional play that i have seen as a mature young adult. This is definitely a life changing experience for me because now i view theatre in a different light, i am interested and want to see more, i want to know more."
- Steven, Carson High School
"At first, I thought to myself that art wasn't as important than what I thought it was. Now that I think about it, there are many forms of art, and music is one of them. Music is pretty important to me because it helps brighten up my mood or be a place to use as an escape way from the world. I think that if I saw the play with my parents, I would be way more conscious about how our relationship is."
- Kemp, Carson High School
"Thank you for what was the first theater experience for most of my students. As you said in your post on Jane Fonda's blog: they were changed.
The experience seemed to awaken something new in them, something that only the arts has the power to awaken. I value the entire experience offered by Center Theater Group and its staff."
- Shelia Diaz, educator at Fremont High School
