Venice
A next generation Broadway musical that uses the vocabulary of hip-hop while sampling Othello and Brecht to spin an epic tale of struggle and redemption sure to entertain audience members from 15 to 50 to 150.
“The year’s best musical! Though early in its creative life, the next major American musical could well be in the making.”
- Time Magazine
From November 2 – 10th, Center Theatre Group's production of Venice played host to 913 students, teachers, administrators and parents from 18 schools and community organizations. Below are some photos from the performance and educators conference as well as feedback we received from the students.
"This entire experience was a very great one. It was my first time seeing a live musical and most definitely will not be the last. It was really interesting to actually see how the characters use our cheers and laughter to perform. It helps me think about there isn't just a small path for the future. The path opens up to many different opportunities that we should all take no matter what. Never say no to experiences like you can never get. It was an experience that you pretty much can not forget and an experience that you would want to keep experiencing."

"Ohh the power of theater. When it was time for the post show. It was hard for me to get out of the zone. Like it was quite difficult for me to forget that everything that just appeared right in front of me was just a simple play. I don't want to seem all creepy and whatnot haha but I ended up examining each person's REAL character diligently, just to realize that they weren't the people they just were! It's so weird because I was really fooled. But of course in a good way. They were really good actors that stepped into their position amazingly. I most definitely can't wait to go to another play! My love for theater has just begun."
