Dana Teaching Artist Institute
Teaching Artist Training
The Institute provides teaching artists with training, mentorship and networking opportunities. Through a creative dramatics curriculum developed in partnership with educators and master teaching artists, participants will become familiar with Understanding by Design* lesson planning techniques and the Visual and Performing Arts Standards. Working in a laboratory style environment with experienced professionals, participants will practice collaborative theatre-making, teaching techniques, theatre exercises and lesson planning. With the guidance of classroom teachers and master teaching artists, participants will lead two lessons at one of our partner school sites and receive feedback during personalized coaching sessions.
Professional Development Seminars
In the interest of promoting a sustained community of learners and arts professionals, the Institute will include two seminars focused on improving the practice of teaching theatre in public schools and the community. Institute alumni, CTG Education’s partner-educators and current participants will be joined by experts and master teaching artists to continue growing as professional teachers and artists.
