Speak to Me is a school-based mentorship program designed to empower students through performance, creative writing and design. This unique after-school residency empowers high school students through the use of critical thinking, communication techniques and theatre arts. The program’s professional mentors create a supportive environment in which students explore personal, communal and global issues.
Speak to Me culminates in the development and presentation of an original play, performed for community members and students, created to examine topics specifically chosen in collaboration with participating students and teachers. In working with the host school, surrounding schools, and the larger community, the program seeks to promote dialogue about art, activism, and youth culture.

Speak to Me is in residence at Lynwood High School for the 2007 – 2008 academic year. Performances of the Speak to Me production will take place in March 2008.
Contact Emily Weisberg for further information about Speak to Me.
Major support for Speak to Me is provided by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Dwight Stuart Youth Foundation, Weingart Foundation and the Zolla Family Foundation.
