It's Friday night. Your week has been long and you're exhausted. As you take your seat in one of CTG's theatres, you begin to feel alive: Friendly faces greet you and warm conversation soothes you.  The lights dim and the show starts. It doesn't take long for the trouble of your week to melt away. You're mesmerized by the spectacle of live theatre, where cutting-edge drama and music and dance collide, where your mind is stretched and moved in ways you never thought possible. You're inspired.

You're home.

The lights rise, and you, transformed, are ready to conquer the world. Then music from a distant place calls you to talk, to laugh, to share with engaged, informed and active theatre-lovers. The after-party begins. And so does your night.

Welcome to The Fringe @ CTG - A social and philanthropic group where young professionals and future community leaders who love theatre come together to watch groundbreaking live theatre, then connect with the creative process, and each other, over great food, signature drinks, and unforgettable conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Fringe @ CTG?

The Fringe @ CTG is a membership group for young professionals in Los Angeles. Not only is this group social (they attend shows and participate in post-show mixers with the cast and other members) but it is also philanthropic (they support new work at CTG).

What is The Fringe @ CTG’s mission?

Here's our official mission statement: The Fringe @ CTG is a group of young professionals who love theatre and understand its importance in Los Angeles. Members of The Fringe @ CTG have the opportunity to explore theatre with their peers in an engaging atmosphere while raising awareness and funds for Center Theatre Group's New Play Production initiative. This group will foster future subscribers, donors and community leaders at CTG.

How much does it cost?

The membership is $200 which includes a tax-deductible donation and complimentary admission to six Fringe mixers throughout the year. After you join, you purchase tickets for Fringe events individually at the special Fringe discounted price. This provides flexibility because you can choose what shows you want to see. You also get access to discounted tickets to all of CTG’s other shows for one year.

What are the other benefits of being a member of The Fringe @ CTG?

  • More savings - Access to discounted tickets for ALL CTG shows for one full year.
  • More flexibility - Purchase theatre tickets for Fringe events as you go. You choose when you attend with the season's offerings listed months in advance.
  • More theatre - Enjoy two more Fringe offerings for a total of six Fringe events throughout the year.
  • More food and fun, for free - Complimentary admission to hosted drinks and delectable edibles at all six Fringe mixers.
  • Something came up? No problem - Exchange your tickets (Fringe events and other shows) and attend another night in the same run of the show.
  • Plan your theatre experience when you have the time - Access to customer service seven days a week.
  • VIP Access - Top priority for seat locations at Fringe events and other CTG shows.
  • Behind-the-scenes access - Invitations to special Fringe events, including behind-the-scenes tours, up-close development seminars, and more!

How many Fringe events are there each year? When are they?

There are six Fringe events spread throughout the year that are at all three of CTG’s theatres – the Ahmanson, the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Most are on Friday evenings, but you can check this website for exact dates.

What are Fringe events like?

Fringe events are a unique experience because you get to attend with other people like you who share a passion for the theatre. When you arrive at the theatre, you don’t have to wait in the long box office line. You are greeted by staff and other members when you can pick up your ticket at a specially designated Fringe table in front of the theatre. When you enter the theatre, you sit with the other members of the group. Following the show, there are amazing after-parties with great food and signature drinks. You get to meet the cast from the show and develop friendships (and meaningful business relationships) with other young professionals in L.A.!

Where are the after-parties?

We always find fun places to host our after-parties.  Sometimes it’s at a nearby restaurant, sometimes it’s a donor-only venue, and sometimes it’s even in the lobby of the theatre complete with a full bar, DJ, and delicious food.  But what we can promise is that it’s always a great time no matter where it’s at—because it’s all about the company.  You can visit our Facebook page to see pictures of past events.

How do I join?

It’s simple! Click here or call 213.972.3097.

What if I want to bring someone with me who is not a Fringe member? Can I buy them a ticket?

Yes, anyone can attend! The cost for non-member tickets to events will be higher than the Fringe price and are determined on a per show basis (don’t forget the mixer costs you are saving as a member).

What if I don’t know anyone who wants to go with me? Is it okay to come alone?

A lot of our members attend by themselves! Everyone in the group is fun and friendly. You will definitely meet some new friends and who knows, before the night is over you might even make a new friend that you can see other theatre with in L.A.

I missed some of the shows listed on the website. Can I still join?

Yes. You can join the Fringe at any point during the year. Your membership will start the day you join and will continue for one calendar year. For example, if you join March 4, 2011, your membership will last until March 4, 2012.

I'm told $100 of my membership is a tax-deductible donation for New Play Production. Where does the money go?

Simply put: Your gift ensures that a new generation of theatre-lovers will have access to innovative and exciting, nationally-significant theatre in L.A. by supporting new play development at CTG. What does that mean for you? It means by joining The Fringe, you may be supporting the next Pulitzer Prize winning drama, the new great American comedy, or THE show that changes your perspective on our big, beautiful world...for good.

I'm young (or young at heart). Do I count as a young professional?

The Fringe @ CTG is primarily made up of people between the ages of 22 - 39, but if you're just outside that range, we won't tell if you don't...
