OVERVIEW

“Jane Fonda is elegant, heartbreaking, and fierce.”

- Ben Brantley, The New York Times

“Not to  be missed."

- New York Magazine

"The one and only  Jane Fonda, may just be nearing her peak of radiance…this Oscar-winning icon  has the audience eating out of the palm of her hand the moment she makes her  glamorous entrance."
- Charles McNulty, Los Angeles  Times

"Jane Fonda, Zach Grenier and the entire cast are  outstanding in this penetrating look into the nature of artistic creation and  its connection to life. Music lovers and  theater lovers alike won't be disappointed..."
- Jay Reiner, The Hollywood  Reporter

"A potent family drama wrapped inside a  fascinating historical mystery. Jane Fonda’s indomitability invests dying  musicologist Dr. Katherine Brandt with true grit and transcendent grace."
- Bob Verini, Variety

A  BEETHOVEN SCHOLAR is  driven to solve the genius’ greatest mystery while her own life rumbles around  her: all gracefully underscored by a live pianist sharing the stage.

In a journey that spans 200  years, 33 Variations is a sublime waltz between past and present, fact  and speculation, art and life, mother and daughter.

Two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda  heads a cast of eight in the new American play written and directed by Moisés  Kaufman (author of The Laramie Project and director of I Am My Own  Wife and Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo).

The 2009 Broadway run of 33 Variations was nominated for a total of five Tony Awards, including a nomination for Zach Grenier.  The Tectonic Theater Project production of 33 Variations is produced by special arrangement with David Binder.

Please note:  33 Variations is part of the Mark Taper Forum Season and will be performed at the Ahmanson. If you are a 2011 season ticket member of the Taper, do NOT add this production to your Ahmanson season package. All Taper season ticket members will receive TOP Priority for seating for this production.
