"FREEWHEELING CARNIVAL OF A SHOW…
Rude Mechs, the crazy-as-a-fox performance troupe from Austin, Texas, loves throwing audiences for a loop. Why, our wacky friends from the Lone Star State have returned to host a little shindig. What could be more normal than seeing wieners roasting in the theater’s men’s room and the lobby decked out like a country fair for our intermission pleasure?"
- Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times
The Rude Mechs' uber-physical, riotously unconventional The Method Gun was a monster hit at the Douglas last season.
Now they're back and bringing the party: I’ve Never Been So Happy - a transmedia hootenanny* centered around a western operetta filled with ballads, heavy metal, opera and R&B
When a mother ties her son to a mountain lion to make him strong and a father won’t allow his daughter out of the house to protect her virtue, it’s gonna take a Texas-sized, foot stompin’, genre rompin’ sensory assault to bring these star-crossed lovers together.
And if that isn’t enough, smack in the middle is an intermission shindig - an interactive carnivalesque performance party. Be sure to save room for Texas Trash Bags from Tub's Fine Chili & Fancy Fixin’s and drinks at the saloon with the town gossip on hand to stir the pot and cause a ruckus.
Don’t you dare miss it!
"...at the Drink and Stink Saloon the turkey chili is quite tasty..."
- Bob Verini, Variety
*The transmedia hootenanny is taking it to Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare with upcoming contests and giveaways. “Like” our pages now so you won’t miss any of the action.
