Tanya Barfield

Playwright

Theatre: Blue Door (Playwrights Horizons, South coast Repertory, Seattle Repertory, Berkeley Repertory), Dent, The Quick, The Houdini Act, 121º West. Awards: Recipient of the 2003 Helen Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrights, 2005 Honorable Mention for the Kesselring Prize for Drama, a 2006 Lark Play Development/ NYSCA grant and she has been twice been a finalist for the Princess Grace Award. Residencies: the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab (Utah and the Ucross Foundation), New York Stage and Film, the Royal Court International Residency and Seattle Rep’s Women Playwrights Festival at Hedgebrook.  Commissions: Playwrights Horizons, Center Theatre Group, South coast Repertory, Primary Stages and Geva Theatre Center.  Associations: Resident Playwright at New Dramatists.

Education: MFA in Design from the Yale School of Drama and she lectures at California State University Channel Islands in Costume Design, Set Design and Drawing.
