Project D.A.T.E.
(Direct Access Theatre Experience)

Project D.A.T.E. performances are designed for our deaf, hard of hearing, blind and low vision patrons. Center Theatre Group offers American Sign Language Interpretation and Audio Description at all three of our theatres. We are proud to offer Open Captioned performances at the Ahmanson Theatre through a generous, anonymous Artistic Director’s Circle gift.

Mobility

Wheelchair Seating

Accommodations for persons in wheelchairs or persons with disabilities and their attendants or companions may be made by calling Audience Services at 213/628-2772. Patrons at the Taper, Douglas and Ahmanson should contact us if your wheelchair status changes so that your seating will be correct when you arrive at the theatre for each production. Please try to arrive early if you need help with access. (Patrons who need to use the lift at the Taper should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to curtain.) Latecomers will be handled on an individual basis.

Seating locations: areas for patrons in wheelchairs are available on all levels of the Ahmanson Theatre. In the Mark Taper Forum seating is accessible by means of a platform lift. Aisle seats may also be requested. At the Kirk Douglas Theatre, seating is accessible in both the main floor and gallery sections.

Restrooms: Fully accessible restrooms on each level of the Ahmanson Theatre, in the main lobby of the Mark Taper Forum and in the main lobby of the Kirk Douglas Theatre. (The Music Center Plaza has additional bathroom accommodations on the plaza to help ease the lines during intermissions. They are located on the Grand Avenue side of the plaza next to the Taper.

Accessible Parking:

Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum

Accessible spaces are located in the garages at the Music Center. For modified vans more than 6'6" high, space is designed at the circular drive on the Hope street side of the Plaza. Valet parking is available in two locations at the Music Center. The Hope Street circular drive adjacent to the Plaza and Hope Street and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Accessible parking is $9 for vehicles displaying a valid, state-issued disability placard or license plate. Wheel chairs are not provided.

Parking lot escalators and elevators
Elevators from the Music Center Garage are located underneath the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on the Grand Avenue side. Two escalators are located at the center of the garage on the Grand Avenue side leading up to the fountain area. A third escalator is located near the Ahmanson Theatre on the Hope Street side of the plaza. The escalators are programmed to move up prior to curtain and down starting at intermission.

Wheelchair pickup
Patrons of the Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum can call the Music Center Guest Services department at 213-972-0777, in advance, to reserve wheelchair pick-up. Usher pick-up is at the valet parking on Hope Street.

Kirk Douglas Theatre

Free, accessible parking spaces are available beneath Culver City’s City Hall (official parking for KDT). Elevators provide access to street and curb cuts are located at most intersections. Patrons may be dropped off in the loading zone on Washington Blvd, just east of the theatre.
