OVERVIEW
“…YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE THE MUSICAL.
Dolly Parton’s songwriting skills along with her desire to DAZZLE … were made for Broadway. Megan Hilty, Allison Janney and Stephanie J. Block rise to the occasion and exhibit a fine chemistry together.
Marc Kudisch is devilishly good. Dolly Parton, Patricia Resnick, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler and director Joe Mantello have done A SENSATIONAL JOB.”
- Jay Reiner, The Hollywood Reporter
"Not since ‘WICKED’ has a show overflowed with so much musical-comedy promise
Nothing gets the comic juices flowing like a workplace revenge fantasy… A LAUGH RIOT. In terms of box office, [it] has the potential to rescue the next big bank failure.”
- Charles McNulty,
Los Angeles Times
"A FAIRY TALE—BUT A HIP, HILARIOUS ONE,
with dynamite performances by the three leading women…a rollicking score by Dolly Parton, a clever and fast-paced script by the movie’s screenwriter, Patricia Resnick, and spectacular direction by Tony-winner Joe Mantello.”
- Neal Weaver,
LA Weekly
“Allison Janney brings a long-limbed elegance to the part…Her big, expressive eyes and deadpan delivery are perfect …. Megan Hilty is pitch-perfect… Stephanie J. Block hits it out of the park.”
- Paul Hodgins, The Orange County Register
"A FUN SHOW.”
- Bob Verini,

What a way to make a livin’
Barely gettin’ by
It’s all takin’ and no givin’.
They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It’s enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it...

Don't miss this new musical comedy based on the classic hit movie! 9 to 5: The Musical features a brand-new score by seven-time Grammy Award®-winner Dolly Parton that includes the blockbuster title song, plus a book by original screenwriter Patricia Resnick and direction by two-time Tony Award®-winner Joe Mantello (directing his first new musical since Wicked).
Emmy Award®-winner and Tony Award®-nominee Allison Janney stars as Violet Newstead, the super-efficient office manager who joins her fellow co-workers - frazzled divorcée Judy Bernly (Stephanie J. Block) and sexy secretary Doralee Rhodes (Megan Hilty in the role originated by Dolly Parton in the film) - to turn the tables on their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot” of a boss, Franklin Hart, Jr. (Tony Award®-nominee Marc Kudisch).
In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy - giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover and rise to the top of the company that once looked at them as second-class citizens... A girl can scheme can't she?
