Where is that prince of mine?

“A brilliant entertainment in three dimensions…
extraordinary performances.”

Laurence Vittes, The Hollywood Reporter (read review online)

“Jeff Calhoun… has been deservedly praised for his contribution to the form and continues to push for innovation and aesthetic excellence. A lovely theatrical tumble…all that’s required is a willingness to go on a fantastic journey.”

Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times (read review online)

After her centuries long snooze, Beauty wakes to find herself far from her fairy tale kingdom in a contemporary sleep-disorder center, where all the princes seem to have disappeared!

A delightful twist on Grimms’ classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty Wakes takes us on a wild theatrical journey entwined in these two parallel worlds, as Beauty discovers the real costs of flirting with danger, the joy of living and the meaning of true love.

As they did with Big River, Director Jeff Calhoun and Deaf West Theatre craft a unique musical featuring both deaf and hearing actors along with the indie pop/rock sensation GrooveLily to create a distinctively theatrical musical event.

A co-production of Center Theatre Group and Deaf West Theatre with support from community partners GLAD, Toyota and radio station KMZT 1260 AM.

“Captivating and funny…Jeff Calhoun has become a master orchestrator of singing, signing, speaking and dance.”
Bob Verini, Variety

All performances in spoken English and American Sign Language with music, dance and song!
