We commit to creating a safe space where the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion permeate all levels and all aspects of our work. We aim to attract, nurture, and retain staff in a supportive home where we can be our best selves. Because theatre is a cultural force with the capacity to transform the lives of individuals and society at large, we have a duty to celebrate our commonalities and embrace our differences in order to ensure that everyone has access to our work onstage, behind the scenes, and in the community.

In March 2018, the staff Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Task Force launched our Affinity Group program. Affinity Groups, also known as Employee Resource Groups, are designed to give employees of similar backgrounds an opportunity to connect, interact, and network with one another. The purpose of Affinity Groups is to provide forums for the diverse populations within an organization to gather socially and share ideas and similar interests outside of their particular departments.

Center Theatre Group Affinity Groups

  • Women Identified
  • LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual)
  • People of Color
  • Parents and Guardians

Center Theatre Group employees who are full-time, part-time, temporary, or seasonal have the opportunity to attend Affinity Group meetings. Each Affinity Group meets multiple times in the fiscal year during work hours. Employees that identify with multiple affinities are welcome to attend all of the meetings related to each affinity.

Allies who do not identify with an Affinity Group are encouraged to support and participate in Center Theatre Group’s IDEA efforts by joining the IDEA Task Force and accessing Center Theatre Group's collection of books and online resources related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access Task Force is an ad hoc staff-led initiative to understand who the Center Theatre Group staff are and how the organization can better recruit and retain staff that reflect Los Angeles' demographic landscape.
