About the Artist

Marisol Lydia Torres is a writer, multimedia visual artist, and English Arts teacher. Born in the San Fernando Valley, her Chicana roots and inspiration extend from the urban panorama of LA to the red earth of Jalisco and fertile waters of Nicaragua—spilling into her mix of comedy writing, poetry, and song. Marisol has written and performed solo and collaborative performance work presented throughout the US and in Mexico since 1997.

Credits: 9 Layers, La Gigantona, and Sammi Saves the World commissioned by The Artist’s Laboratory Theatre. She was a writer on two seasons of Center Theatre Group’s Chisme y Queso and L.A. as DNA was part of the Library Play Readings series developed in part with LTA/LA Playwrights Circle.

She holds an MFA in Television, Film and Theatre with an emphasis in Dramatic Writing and is currently developing a stop-motion animation on the migrant experience in the U.S. as lead visual artist in collaboration with Revolve Impact.
