About Tango The Musical by Sergei Tumas

Tango The Musical by Sergei Tumas, a Broadway style dance production, comes direct from the famed Teatro Coliseo theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The production is a tribute to the centennial birth of legendary Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992), who's heralded “new tango” was a cultural blend of Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Folk music, and dance.

A modern love story rooted in Greek mythology, this musical in two acts takes place against the backdrop of social and political turmoil during the historic “Argentina’s Dirty War” (1976-1984) and remembered as “Los Desaparecidos." Featuring a cast of 11 world-champion Argentine tango couples accompanied by a premiere 10-piece live orchestra, Tango The Musical features Latin Grammy Award winning tango musicians under the musical direction of pianist Cristian Zárate.

This one-of-a-kind show is a complete Astor Piazzolla experience in music and dance with spectacular costumes and lighting design, under the artistic direction of Maestro Sergei Tumas and choreographed by Argentina’s own choreographers Iván Leonardo Romero and Silvana Nuñez.
