eLa Aldrete and Gerardo Davalos explore urban nature from a point of observation and movement. They work on the subject together, and independently. To carry out this exploration, they started from the idea of giving importance to observing nature within their daily lives.

eLa Aldrete y Gerardo Davalos exploran la naturaleza urbana desde un punto de observación y movimiento. Trabajan el tema juntos, e independientes. Para hacer esta exploración partieron de la idea de dar importancia a volver a observar la naturaleza dentro de su cotidiano. Este proyecto busca movilizar el impulso y las ganas de detenerse: escuchar, observar, tocar, sentir, estar. Recordar que somos naturaleza, que somos tierra.

Sobre Los Artistas

Elizabeth Aldrete “eLa”

Artesana, creadora e investigadora interdisciplinaria, transitando los cruces entre el movimiento corporal, el diseño de escena, las artes plásticas, el arte funcional entre otras prácticas artístico-expresivas. Explora el tema del Cuerpo Humano en relación con diversos factores que lo transforman.

Ha sido parte de colaboraciones con algunas compañías escénicas como Brazeros Colectivo Escénico, Inmigrantes Teatro , Off The Tracks Theater, así como artistas visuales e interdisciplinarios independientes.

Es guía de laboratorios experimentales de movimiento para artistas escénicos y comunidad hispanohablante principalmente en el area de Los Ángeles y alrededores.

En el año 2021 completó un Posgrado en Prácticas Artísticas Contemporáneas en la Universidad de San Martín, que consta de seminarios sobre escritura, creación audiovisual, investigaciones curatoriales y exploraciones sonoras.

Actualmente está estudiando algunos módulos de Educación Somática, laboratorios de Teatro Objeto, y Talleres de Creación interdisciplinaria; aprendizajes que va llevando a su práctica artística constante.

Gerardo Davalos

Gerardo Dávalos es Actor, Escenógrafo y Artista Docente. Diseñó escenografías y utilería para El Niño Dios Viene a L.A. y El Agua La Vida para Teatro Jornalero sin Fronteras; Eye: Witness for About…Producciones; Romeo y Juliet en East LA Performing Arts Magnet. También diseñó escenografías, títeres y utilería para Amalí en Crezca Teatro; Producciones de escenario principal de Epitafio y Are you Bringing Something from Mexico? para Off The Tracks Theatre Company, una compañía de teatro en español que cofundó en 2011. Gerardo ha enseñado actuación a niños de 5 a 11 años y comenzó un club de actuación en Aspire JCA, una escuela primaria del centro de la ciudad en Huntington Park. Utiliza técnicas de clown, teatro físico, narración de cuentos, improvisación y colaboración en su enseñanza. Su énfasis está en crear una atmósfera positiva donde los niños de todas las edades puedan ejercitar su imaginación y creatividad. Gerardo también enseña atrezzo usando material encontrado y reciclado.

Gerardo cofundó Off The Tracks Theatre Company en 2011, un conjunto de teatro local dedicado a crear producciones en español. Ha actuado en varias obras de OTT, entre ellas: Papá Está en la Atlántida, Epitafio, Are you Bringing Something from México? y 13:20. Gerardo ha estado trabajando en las colaboraciones Library Play Readings entre Center Theatre Group y Off The Tracks desde 2014. Ha actuado y construido escenarios y accesorios para lecturas escénicas que incluyen Una Bestia en mi Jardín, Cosas Pequeñas y Extraordinarias, Las Arañas Cumplen Años para nombrar unos pocos.

Gerardo nació en San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco y actualmente vive en Long Beach, CA.

This project seeks to mobilize the impulse and the desire to stop: listen, observe, touch, feel, be. Remember that we are nature, that we are earth.

About the Artists

Elizabeth Aldrete “eLa”

Artisan, creator and interdisciplinary investigator, crossing the intersections between corporeal movement, staging design, plastic arts, functional art among other artistic-expressive practices. It explores the topic of the Human Body in relation to various factors that transform it.

She has been part of collaborations with theater companies such as Brazeros Colectivo Escénico, Inmigrantes Teatro, Off The Tracks Theater, as well as independent visual and interdisciplinary artists.

She guides experimental movement laboratories for performing artists and the Spanish-speaking community, mainly in the Los Angeles area and surroundings.

In 2021, she completed a Postgraduate Degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices at the University of San Martín, which consists of seminars on writing, audiovisual creation, curatorial research, and sound explorations.

She is currently studying some modules of Somatic Education, Object Theater laboratories, and Interdisciplinary Creation Workshops; learning that leads to her constant artistic practice.

Gerardo Davalos

Gerardo Davalos is an Actor, Scenic Designer and Teaching Artist. He designed sets and props for El Niño Dios Viene a L.A. and El Agua La Vida for Teatro Jornalero sin Fronteras; Eye: Witness for About…Productions; Romeo and Juliet at East LA Performing Arts Magnet. He also designed sets, puppets and props for Amalí at Crezca Teatro; Main Stage productions of Epitafio and Are You Bringing Something from Mexico? for Off The Tracks Theatre Company, a Spanish language theatre company he co-founded in 2011. Gerardo has taught acting to kids age 5-11 years old and began an acting club at Aspire JCA, an inner city elementary school in Huntington Park. He uses clowning techniques, physical theatre, story telling, improvisation, and collaboration in his teaching. His emphasis is on creating a positive atmosphere where kids of all ages are able to exercise their imagination and creativity. Gerardo also teaches prop building using found and recycled material.

Gerardo co founded Off The Tracks Theatre Company in 2011, a local theatre ensemble dedicated to creating Spanish Language productions. He has acted in several of OTT’s plays including: Papa Esta en la Atlantida, Epitafio, Are You Bringing Something from Mexico?, and 13:20. Gerardo has been working on the Library Play Readings collaborations between Center Theatre Group and Off The Tracks since 2014. He has acted and built sets and props for staged readings that include Una Bestia en mi Jardín, Cosas Pequeñas y Extraordinarias, Las Arañas Cumplen Años to name a few.

Gerardo was born in San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco and currently lives in Long Beach, CA.
