Sandi Koto pitches for her high school baseball team to the dismay of her mother and the jeers of opposing teams. With the help of her teammate Davy, her ancestors, and a legendary lefty, she hopes to learn to throw the outlawed screwball pitch to honor her great-grandfather before the final game of the year.
About the Artists
Judy Soo Hoo is a playwright, screenwriter, and dreamer from Del Rey. Growing up as a Chinese American in New Mexico near the Navajo Nation, her writing is attuned to the struggles, desires, and hopes of characters living on the margins.

Judy is currently writing a play about two teenagers whose lives are thrown into turmoil when their mother is arrested and slated for deportation as part of the Playwrights Group at Company of Angels.
Company of Angels (CoA) is Los Angeles’ oldest non-profit theater company, founded in 1959 by actors Richard Chamberlain, Leonard Nimoy, Vic Morrow, and legendary entertainment attorney Bert Fields. Julianna Stephanie Ojeda (director) is a Latinx Theatre artist from Pico Rivera. She currently serves as Associate Producer for Company of Angels. She is an alumnus of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival FAIR program. She has directed full productions at Rio Hondo College as a guest artist. She produced and directed two staged readings of Just Like Us by Karen Zacarias. Other staged readings include Kissing Che at ACT in Seattle co-produced by Latino Theatre Projects, and Enfrascada at the San Diego Repertory Theatre produced by Amigos del Rep.
Mauro Flores, Jr. (illustrations) is a producer, writer, illustrator and director originally from South Texas. He currently lives in LA where he works as a story and field producer for unscripted shows like The Amazing Race and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Mauro’s been writing, directing, illustrating and crafting stories since the age of four, and been involved in theater since the 4th grade. Andrea 'Slim' Allmond (sound designer and composer) Credits include: Off Broadway: Gloria: A Life; Dallas Theater Center: Public Works Dallas As You Like It; Public Works Dallas Winter’s Tale; The 11:11 West Hollywood: Famous the Play and Film (Composer and Sound Designer). Touring: Something Rotten First National Tour (Assistant Audio). Andrea was also a guest artist and mentor at UNLV. She received her MFA in Sound Design from the University of California Irvine. Richard Azurdia (Fernando Valenzuela) is born and raised in L.A! Ana Ming Bostwick-Singer (Sandi Koto) is an Asian-American actor based in LA, and a member of Tim Robbin's Actors' Gang. Ana’s made appearances with South Coast Rep, the Ojai Playwrights Conference, and recently performed in Lisa Loomer's Class of 2020 for Together LA Festival.
Leah Zhang (Angie) is a company member at Company of Angels where she was in Sanctuary and Solidarity is a Four Letter Word. She is a cast member with the long running sketch comedy show TMI Hollywood. Regionally Leah has performed at The Old Globe, American Players Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, and Chicago Dramatists. TV/Film credits include SouthLAnd, America's Most Wanted, and Ocean's 12. When not performing Leah can be found teaching actors as the lead movement teacher at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

Justin Huen (Redmon) is an award winning actor/director/designer who has worked in intimate and regional theatres across the country. He’s been a proud member of Company of Angels since 2005 serving as resident technical director/scenic designer. Fun fact, he designed and built the Company of Angels Theatre which is currently housed in Boyle Heights. He also works on film/tv, most recently on Shameless and the critically acclaimed and award winning short film SheVolution.
