Composer Sage Lewis, whose multimedia work for the stage adopts a socially-conscious approach, was named the 2009 recipient of Center Theatre Group’s Richard E. Sherwood Award.

Lewis recently received his MFA in music composition from California Institute of the Arts. In the field of theatre, he has served as a musical director, composer, solo performance artist, sound designer and producer. Sage creates work that asks both the creative team and the audience to break through “artistic, cultural, and psychological boundaries” between the U.S. and countries that are perceived as our enemies.
