This year’s Teen Theatregoers have an important mission: to explore what theatre means in the #SaferAtHome world. Are you interested in exploring diverse and cutting-edge virtual performances, from narrative theatre game apps, play readings with artists, exclusive virtual plays from theatre archives, and socially-distanced theatre (all for free!)?

You will watch performances that redefine the art of storytelling and the significance of art making in times of crisis; see what cutting-edge theatre artists doing during the pandemic; and receive mentorship from theatre professionals to explore and define your taste in theatre, all from the safety of your own home!

The Teen Theatergoers Program embraces diversity and strives to provide greater access to students from all backgrounds.

Program runs December 2020 – May 2021
Apply by 3pm on Thursday, November 5, 2020

Participation is free and students will have the opportunity to see virtual performances, presented by Center Theatre Group and theatres nationwide, over the course of the program.

Arts-interested high school students ages 14–18 who reside in Los Angeles County are eligible to apply. We’re looking for teens who want to see and explore virtual theatre with one another in small discussion groups. No theatre experience is required!

All program sessions will take place via the Zoom virtual platform for the duration of the entire program; participants will need access to a Wi-Fi enabled devise such as a personal laptop or cell phone and will be required to set up a free Zoom account to participate. CTG cannot provide laptops or cell phones for program access. However, students who need support with Wi-Fi access are eligible for a complimentary Wi-Fi hotspot available during the course of the program, only.

Although program sessions will remain virtual throughout the program, participants may be invited to attend a Teen Theatregoers pre-show gathering and live theatrical performance if our theatres open to the public in spring 2021, all for free!

Participants are required to attend four meetings during the course of the program and four complimentary virtual performances.
