Fela!
Yeah! Yeah! Back by Popular Demand!
A breath-taking roller coaster ride.
First, you’ll feel it in your feet.
Then you’ll feel it in your soul.
That’s the undeniable power of FELA!
Fela! is both rave and theatrical wonder. Thanks to Fela's captivating music and the visionary direction and choreography of Tony Award® winner Bill T. Jones, this tale of courage, passion, and love will shake you: body and soul.
Destiny’s Child Singer Michelle Williams will star in Fela!
Grammy Award® winner Michelle Williams, best known as part of the chart-topping pop group Destiny’s Child, will play the role of Sandra in Fela! Ms. Williams made her Broadway debut in 2003 playing the title role in Aida. In addition, she toured with The Color Purple playing Shug Avery and was the first African American actress to play Roxie Hart in Chicago on London’s West End.
There should be dancing in the streets.
Legendary Nigerian Fela Kuti was a musical dynamo and a political powder keg who used his supercharged and sexy Afrobeat sound and charismatic spirit to ignite and inspire a generation to dare challenge a government of oppression.
Unbridled joy… . A poignant human rights statement. Be prepared to get out of your seat and shake your derriere. More than a musical. An ecstatic phenomenon!
