Center Theatre Group partners with local artists, theatre companies, and libraries to present English and Spanish play readings every month.
Join us for a new play by Mark Valdez, which brings to life the classic children's book by Gary Soto. There, between the 5, the 10, the 710, and the 101, lives Chato, the coolest low-riding cat in the barrio. But the neighborhood’s changing, ese. Simon. Ever since the taqueria stand closed and the coffee shop opened, pues, things just ain’t been the same. Y ahora his new neighbors are…mice! ¡Hijole! What’s a vato-gato to do? Guess he’ll have them for dinner. Uh…I mean, I guess he’ll invite them to dinner. Join us for some oldies and some mole at Chato’s Kitchen. Presented in English.
As always, play readings are free, open to the public, and designed to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
