Mama of the Row

Center Theatre Group partners with local artists, theatre companies, and libraries to present English and Spanish play readings every month.

Mama of the Row or Who Raised the Rent? (A Los Angeles Vaudeville of Tragic Proportions) A Displacement of Bertolt Brecht’s "Mother Courage and Her Children" by Luis Alfaro is directed by Nancy Keystone with music by La Victoria. What happens when you’re one check away from living on the streets? Follow Mama of the Row as she and her children sing songs of displacement and survival. A play with music about a problem today. Presented in English, Mama of the Row is a Center Theatre Group commission.

As always, play readings are free, open to the public, and designed to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
