Aquí We Are is a short film that explores latinidad, culture, community and the pandemic within the confines of a therapy session. Through the characters, Ruby and Katrina, this short depicts the unbounded effects this time has on everyone. Aquí We Are aims to show that despite our myriad differences, globally, we all find ourselves here.

About the Artists

Brenda Arteaga-Walsh is a bilingual actor, working on-camera, voice-over and theatre. She’s known for her effusive charm, warmth, and quick banter. She is a UCLA alumna who was Pre-Med and earned B.A.s in both Spanish and Comparative Literature. While at UCLA, Brenda discovered her love of teaching when she created a pilot program for kids aimed at bridging the gap within the South L.A. community through language learning. Recent Credits: Mayans M.C., Station 19, and Jane the Virgin, and has lent her voice to Togetherish, The Comeback Trail, and Infidel.

In addition to her work, you can often find Brenda volunteering with animals or traveling to serve as an interpreter for medical teams providing care in at-risk communities globally.

Adalgiza Chermont is an Afro-Latina from Brooklyn, NY. A Dominican American actor and emerging director, Adalgiza graduated from the prestigious Atlantic Theater Acting School in NYC. You can see her in: Better Things, Bosch, Diary of a Future President, Shameless, Code Black, Notorious, I'm Dying Up Here, Castle, Franklin & Bash, House of Lies, Criminal Minds, Battle Creek, and working opposite the legendary Helen Mirren in HBO's Phil Spector. The latest short she wrote, Transition, won Jury Prize Runner Up. She has directed three shorts, The Gifting Tree, Deviant Septum, and The Assistant, and co-directed with Chrissy Metz the music video, The Trouble with the Winners. Spanish is her first language.
