Working in Theatre
How to Work in Theatre in 2020 (And Beyond)
Jump-start your theatre career this summer from anywhere with an Internet connection at Center Theatre Group's free, virtual professional development series. Designed for current college and university students studying theatre but open to all, the Working in Theatre Summer Series is a 10-week course focused on the skills and knowledge emerging professionals need to build a career in live theatre.
Our first session explores next steps for employment and how to promote yourself with panelists Jessica Kubzansky and Kristina Wong. The session also discusses the state of the industry today and how we hope it will change in the future, in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic and anti-racist movement.
Jessica Kubzansky is the artistic director of Boston Court Pasadena and an award-winning director. She has received numerous awards and honors, among them the Los Angeles’ Drama Critics’ Circle’s Margaret Harford Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatre.
Kristina Wong is a performance artist, comedian, writer and elected representative who has been presented internationally across North America, the UK, Hong Kong and Africa. Her work has been awarded with several grants, as well as eight Los Angeles Artist-in-Residence awards. Center Theatre Group honored her as the 2019 Sherwood Award recipient for her exceptional contribution to the Los Angeles theatre landscape.
