Performers, students, patrons gather for LA Stage Day on May 18

Join Center Theatre Group and other Los Angeles performing arts organizations on Saturday, May 18, for LA Stage Day, a daylong event at California State University, Los Angeles. Sponsored by LA Stage Alliance, the event attracts "performers, designers, administrators, leaders, students, supporters, vendors, and patrons" for a day of inspiration, networking and learning.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. Performances and interactive sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. with a "series of short (5-10 minute) provocative and inspirational presentations from fellow members of the LA performing arts community."

Diverse artists will engage participants in workshops and panel discussions throughout the day.

Andy Crocker, CTG's casting associate, will lead a student workshop called The Hardest Job You'll Ever Love: Survival as an Actor. Working actors and other casting professionals will give insider advice on headshots, résumés, agents, unions and finances.

CTG Student Body members can attend the workshop for free and receive admission to the rest of the event at a discounted price. (Please note: The deadline to register for this particular workshop was May 6, but students ages 13-23 can become members of the Student Body and participate in future events by clicking here.)

A midday bazaar will give attendees a chance to mingle with artists from greater Los Angeles. Patrons and students can learn how to get involved with a variety of LA Stage Alliance member companies.

At the end of the day, attendees can travel in groups to see performances at local organizations.

Admittance to LA Stage Day is $35. For more information, or to RSVP, click here.
