Introducing theatre to a young audience member can be a magical experience, but it can also be a daunting one. For example: How can you be sure to pick a show with appropriate subject matter? How do you explain different theatrical terms and concepts to someone who has never seen a play before? What is the best way to talk to a young person about a potentially challenging onstage moment once the curtain has dropped?

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, which plays the Ahmanson Theatre through May 1, 2016, is a rollicking musical comedy that provides a macabre, stylish, and—dare we say—gentlemanly guide to avenging your mother’s honor while simultaneously gaining control of your family fortune. In honor of this virtuosic and hilarious theatrical experience, Center Theatre Group is proud to present our very own guide—to love of theatre. We think any gentleman (or lady) bringing children to a show for the first time will find Theatre Basics: A Starting Place for Introducing Children to the World of Live Theatre indispensable.
