The Trip to Bountiful

Bountiful is a heartbreaking but ultimately life-affirming and inspiring tale that examines the fragility of memory and celebrates the enduring power of hope and faith. This exclusive Ahmanson engagement is helmed by Broadway director Michael Wilson, the foremost interpreter of Horton Foote.

It’s the journey—and performance—of a lifetime when Mrs. Carrie Watts sets out to escape the big city and her overprotective family, fueled by the dream of returning to her small hometown of Bountiful, Texas, one last time.

The legendary Cicely Tyson—after a 30-year absence from the stage—reprises her 2013 Tony Award® winning Broadway performance, taking the stage by storm in the critically acclaimed revival of Pulitzer Prize winner Horton Foote’s American masterpiece. Vanessa Williams and Blair Underwood will join Tyson in this exclusive engagement. Tyson and Williams appeared together in the 2013 Broadway production of The Trip to Bountiful, while Tyson, Williams and Underwood all starred in the Lifetime TV version that aired in March.

When Tyson’s infectious Carrie bursts into a treasured hymn, we dare you not to sing along.
