Venues Around L.A.

Popol Vuh

Against the backdrop of Los Angeles’ iconic City Hall, the famed Chicano theatre company El Teatro Campesino creates an epic visual feast. Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven tells the story of the Mayan creation myth with an L.A. twist through towering puppetry, music, and dance. Our neighbors in Boyle Heights will perform alongside members of El Teatro, culminating a year-long process of puppet-making, performance, and music workshops. Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven highlights the local talent within our midst and reaches across centuries and cultures to celebrate life and creation in three languages: Spanish, English, and Quiché. Come experience this FREE larger-than-life community performance, presented by Center Theatre Group at Grand Park, right across the street from the Music Center.

Pack a picnic, and bring blankets, pillows, or low chairs—it’s a celebration surrounded by the Los Angeles skyline!
