Bola, a young Nigerian girl with blue eyes living in LA, comes to realize the conflicting responses to her mother's passed-down trait. She must decide if she will celebrate her Black-girl-blue-eyes inheritance or shun its attachment to skeptical superstitions.

About the Artists

Julie Taiwo Oni is a playwright, English professor, and identical twin living in Inglewood. With roots in Bakersfield and Nigeria, her work is inspired by American pop culture, the African diaspora experience, and intercultural misconceptions. www.julietaiwooni.com

Her current research and writing deals with Black albinism in the U.S. and Africa as well as the competition of Black authenticity.

She holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from the USC School of Dramatic Arts.


Nathan Singh (director/co-producer) is excited to work on his 6th collaboration with Julie Taiwo Oni, having previously directed Sown (Son of Semele/MaiM Theatre Company), BUNK (Son of Semele/MaiM Theatre Company and Ensemble Studio Theatre), Rioters or Cannibals (Company of Angels), Day's Pay (Inaugural Hollywood Fringe Festival) and a reading of Chisel (Pepperdine University). He is a First Generation Queer Indo-Fijian American whose theatrical work is informed by and infused with themes of otherness, queerness, and cultural diasporas. www.nathansingh.org


Sherando R. Ferril (narrator) is a voice, stage and screen actress, writer, producer and director of audiovisual content. She is also the CEO of YaadBridge Entertainment, VP of Women In Film & Television - Jamaica, Mentor, Trainer and mother. Having attended and lectured at New York Film Academy - Burbank California, she holds a Masters in Film & Media Production. Holding true to mission - sharing culturally rich material on global platforms while erecting bridges that establish global connections. Audiovisual performances include: Bola Blue Eyes, Power Connection, Sweet Rind, Dirty Diana, The Separation. Mission: Giving Black and Caribbean voices a place in the performing arts marketplace.
