About the Creative Team

Anthony Aguilar is a writer who was born and raised in Boyle Heights, California. Written works include the punk rock musical, Little Red, the superhero series El Verde, El Verde: Career Day, and For One Mariachi. He was commissioned by Center Theatre Group’s The Shop initiative for his stage-plays Emma & the Suzies, and Annazul. Emma and the Suzies also received a workshop reading at the 2017 Austin Latino New Play Festival through Teatro Vivo. He has worked for Hulu’s East Los High (season 1) and Comedy Central’s Key and Peele (season 5). He has also worked for the children’s arts organization Inner-City Arts and Bridge Theater Project, designing lights and sound for various productions. He graduated from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Theatre, and teaches playwriting for the Teenage Drama Workshop. He loves Batman, comedy, and comedies starring Batman.



Alejandra Cisneros is a director and producer. Her work lives at the intersection of community building and art making, manifested in the superhero staged series, El Verde! Collaborations include The Public Theater (Mobile Unit), Oregon Shakespeare Festival (La Comedia of Errors, OSF School Visit Program), Center Theatre Group (Chisme y Queso, Annazul, Sueños Frosted Flakes), Grand Park in Downtown LA (New Year's Eve LA, Fourth of July Block Party), the Music Center, Artists at Play (World Premiere of In Love and Warcraft), the Robey Theatre Company, and Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theatre. She is an alumnus of Director’s Lab West, a NALAC Leadership Institute Fellow, a Directing FAIR Fellow at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and a Nathan Cummings Young Leaders of Color recipient. Cristina Fernandez is a performer, writer and translator originally from Puerto Rico, born to Cuban parents. Cristina holds a master’s degree in acting from CalArts. She is the creator and host of Good Enough, an evening of storytelling and comedy in Los Angeles.



Juan Diego Ramirez is a writer, director, and producer, and studied film with Werner Herzog at the Rogue Film School. He produced and directed the documentary Blue Revolution (runner up for Best Documentary Short at the LA Sports Film Festival). He wrote and directed the short film El Toro (nominated for an Imagen Award for Best Short Film). Other films include, The Two Rickies (Best Short at the Miami Independent Film Festival), Portavoz (Best Latino Short Film at the 2016 Variety Film Festival) and the feature, South Loop.



Cheryl Umaña is a graduate from the UCLA School of Theatre Film and TV and LACC’s Theatre Academy. She’s an LA native with strong roots to Guatemala. She has done theatre all over LA with many amazing theatre companies including, Mother of Henry and La Virgen (The Latino Theatre Company), This Land (Company of Angels) and In Love and Warcraft (Artists at Play). She had the wonderful experience of performing in Luis Alfaro's Mojada at the exquisite Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Cheryl has had the honor of working with CTG and with Alejandra Cisneros and Anthony Aguilar in their Free Play Readings in Boyle Heights and as a host of Chisme y Queso. She’s also a voiceover artist, and is so happy to be working on Anthony Aguilar's Latino superhero adventures in this capacity. Stay safe, mucho amor!
