We know that this has been an especially challenging time for many students, parents, and educators. Our hearts are with all of you, and we can’t wait to see you at the theatre and in the classroom again soon. In the meantime, we’re excited to offer online opportunities for high school, college, and adult learners. Please join us as #ArtGoesOn.
Working in Theatre Summer Series
Jump-start your theatre career this summer from anywhere with an Internet connection at our free, virtual professional development series. Designed for current college and university students studying theatre but open to all, the Working in Theatre Summer Series is a 10-week course focused on the skills and knowledge emerging professionals need to build a career in live theatre.
How Can We Help You?
We want to find out what we can do to be there for the community members, students, and educators we work with during this strange and difficult time, so we’ve created a very brief online survey to collect your thoughts. We’d be hugely grateful if you could spend five minutes or so letting us know what digital platforms you use and how Center Theatre Group can fit into your life and work in the coming months.
ELAC Introduction to Theatre Courses
We’re very excited to be partnering with East Los Angeles College (ELAC), our official higher education partner, on their online “Introduction to Theater 100” courses this summer. These courses, taught by theatre educators we adore alongside members of our staff, are open to anyone regardless of age, experience, or education level, and offer a comprehensive exploration of the art form—with a Center Theatre Group spin.
Scenes from the Vault Educator Resources
We’re curating a collection of scenes from some of our most beloved productions across the Ahmanson, Taper, and Douglas that are excellent for theatre fans of all ages to enjoy. Please consider using these videos as learning tools for your young people, and visit our dedicated webpage for questions and prompts designed to help anyone studying theatre dig in deeper.
Working in Theatre Portal
Actor, director, playwright, costume designer...there are a handful of jobs in theatre that everyone knows about, but there are also many other careers in the field that young people especially aren’t aware of. How can they even start to figure out a path if they don’t know what’s out there? Enter our Working in Theatre portal, which features videos of theatre professionals explaining what they do and how they got their start, a quick quiz designed to help young people identify their strengths and priorities and the type of job they want to pursue, and more resources to help anyone aspiring.
Working in Theatre Educator Resources
Our Working in Theatre videos make excellent remote learning tools for educators. We offer accompanying worksheets and other materials designed for educators and students to dive deeper into these careers.
College & Career and Going Pro Career Fairs
This spring, we brought our College & Career Fair for the Arts (for high school students) and Going Pro Career Fair (for college/university undergraduate and graduate students) online for the first time. Watch virtual workshops on topics ranging from college financing and decision-making to hiring agents and managers, and read recaps of both events on our blog.
