GET READY TO GO BACK TO THE LIVE

We can't wait to welcome you back to our theatres with exciting seasons at the Ahmanson, Taper, and Douglas. We've been working hard to ensure the safety of our staff and audience members by upgrading our venues and staying up to date with Los Angeles County's Health & Safety protocols over the last several months. In alignment with recent updates from the California Department of Public Health, Center Theatre Group will require all audience members to provide proof of vaccination upon entry. We will also require guests to wear masks at all times in the venue.

We require all audience members to provide proof of full vaccination and government or education issued photo ID when arriving at the theatre. “Full vaccination” means that either 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose of an FDA-authorized double-dose vaccines or that 14 days have passed since receiving the sole dose of an FDA-authorized single-dose vaccines (per CDC guidelines). As we have family-friendly programming, we will welcome children 6 and older as long as they provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result, as described below.

Masks with exhalation valves; masks made of loosely woven fabrics; scarves, buffs, bandanas, gaiters, and face shields alone (inadequate protection) are prohibited. Masks will be available upon request.

AS OF APRIL 13, 2020

With Los Angeles County progressing through the state’s tiered reopening framework, and with vaccines being made available on an expedited timeline (please get vaccinated!), we are heartened and hopeful that a return to in-person theatre at the Ahmanson is possible in 2021. The past 14 months have been challenging for all of us—particularly in the performing arts—and we have just a few more months to go.

We now expect the 2021/22 Ahmanson Season to begin on November 30, 2021 with the Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol. It will certainly be a joyous occasion when we open the season with this “enchanting spectacle” (The Hollywood Reporter) in time for the holidays. We are also pleased to announce a new addition to the season: Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, coming straight to the Ahmanson off its critically acclaimed run on the West End.

The full season lineup for seven-show subscription packages includes these incredible shows:

A Christmas Carol
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
The Lehman Trilogy
Hadestown
Dear Evan Hansen
The Prom
Oklahoma!

Come From Away will also be making a return engagement to the Ahmanson, this time as a special add-on to season packages. We can't think of a better season to celebrate a return to the theatre.

The previously announced shows 1776, Ain’t Too Proud—The Life & Times of The Temptations, and Les Misérables have been rescheduled to future seasons.

We are continuing to finalize season planning for the Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre, and will update you soon. The Taper season will include the previously announced Slave Play and the Douglas season will include the previously announced Tambo & Bones. We will be in touch with you later this spring with updates as our planning continues to evolve.

We are also readying our theatres and investing in your health and safety, which you can learn more about in this recent Los Angeles Times article. The California guidelines are a giant piece of the puzzle, but there are a number of other pieces we will still need to put together. In addition to clarity from local officials, we will need to work with Equity and our other stage unions. And, of course, it takes a great amount of negotiations, rehearsals, design and production work to get a show up and onto the stage, both for our own locally produced shows and the touring works we often present.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

For Ahmanson subscribers who have already renewed your subscription, there is nothing you need to do at this time. We’ll be in touch this summer with further updates as to how these changes impact your particular package.

If you have not renewed your Ahmanson subscription, we will continue to hold your seats for the upcoming season with an opportunity to renew your subscription this summer.

If you would like to join the season as a new Ahmanson subscriber, please call Subscriber Services at 213.972.4444, subscriptions are not available online at this time. You can also sign up for our email list to be notified when subscriptions go on sale this summer.

For Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre subscribers, no action is needed at this time. We will be in touch with you later this spring with updates as our plans finalize.

If you are able, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to Center Theatre Group, as individual contributions are making up 90% of our drastically-reduced budget this year. Your gift will enable us to continue serving our audiences, students, and educators through the Digital Stage and virtual education programming while our theatres are dark.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at tickets@ctgla.org or call us at 213.972.4444 (Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm). No matter the amount, we value your support.

AS OF: November 17, 2020

As you can imagine, planning for the future has been a fluid and challenging process. We hoped that we would finally be together again this spring, but we are finding that that is no longer possible.

We now expect the 54th Ahmanson Season to begin in August 2021. We know this news may be disappointing to hear, but we are heartened and encouraged by two wonderful shows coming into the season line up: the season will now launch in August with Oklahoma!, reimagined for the 21st century and coming off its acclaimed run on Broadway where it won the Tony Award® for Best Revival of a Musical, and the Old Vic’s Tony-nominated production of A Christmas Carol, “an enchanting spectacle” (The Hollywood Reporter) sure to delight us all for the 2021 holidays.

The 7-show season will also include these incredible shows: 1776, Lehman Trilogy, Hadestown, Dear Evan Hansen, and The Prom. It is sure to be an exciting season and we can't wait to welcome you back to our wonderful Ahmanson Theatre. (The previously announced shows To Kill a Mockingbird, Come From Away, and Ain’t Too Proud—The Life & Times of The Temptations, have been rescheduled to future seasons.) We hope to reopen the Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre in August 2021 as well.

For Ahmanson Theatre subscribers who have already renewed their subscription, there is nothing you need to do at this time. We’ll be reaching out in the future with further updates as to how these changes impact your particular package. Thank you for continuing to hold onto your tickets until we can be together again.

If you have not renewed your Ahmanson subscription, we will continue to hold your seats for the upcoming season with future opportunities to renew your subscription through next spring. (You may do so online.)

For Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre subscribers, there is nothing you need to do at this time. We will be in touch with you regularly with updates as our planning continues to evolve. We hope to have a broader season announcement with an opportunity to renew your subscription this spring.

If you are able, please consider lending support to the Art Goes On: Emergency Giving Fund. This is a critical moment for arts organizations around the country, and we need your support now more than ever.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at tickets@ctgla.org or call us at 213.972.4444 (Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm). No matter the amount, we value your support.

The national tour of Les Misérables has postponed their engagement at the Ahmanson. We are working to announce new dates for this production. Subscribers don't need to take any action, as we'll be sharing more information about our 2020/2021 Season as soon as possible, and we look forward to seeing you at the theatre when it's safe to gather again.

AS OF: March 30, 2020 at 5:45pm

We are truly in unprecedented times. The COVID-19 crisis is something we have never seen in our lifetime, in the world at large and in its implications for our theatre community. Given the uncertainty about public gatherings and when such activities will be safe to resume, due to circumstances beyond our control we must postpone our upcoming productions of 1776 at the Ahmanson Theatre, King James at the Mark Taper Forum, and Sakina’s Restaurant at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. We remain committed to re-opening our theatres in the fall, including with our full Ahmanson 2020/21 Season and our soon-to-be-announced Taper and Douglas seasons.

For patrons with tickets to Once on This Island, which has already been postponed, we continue to explore all options, including the possibility of joining with other theatres to remount this production in the 2020/21 Season. We are also in the process of securing a slot for 1776 in the Ahmanson 2021/22 Season, immediately following its Broadway engagement.

We are contacting current ticket holders via email, but please contact tickets@ctgla.org if you have any questions. We are processing thousands of responses each day, and as you can imagine it is a time-consuming process. In order to allow for safe social distancing, our phone room is currently closed. We will address your responses as soon as possible.

Thank you for patience and understanding as we navigate this challenge. We sincerely hope you and your loved ones are doing well. In these most difficult of times, we must keep our entire community safe, and that will remain the most important factor in how we continue to respond to the current moment. Your ongoing support of Center Theatre Group is deeply appreciated and vital as we continue our mission to serve the diverse audiences of Los Angeles. We look forward to the moment when we can once again raise the curtain and celebrate the power of theatre with you.

AS OF: March 20, 2020 at 10am

As you know, the ongoing response to COVID-19/novel coronavirus has been quickly evolving. In accordance with the latest government and public health orders that large venues remain closed through April 19, 2020, we are exploring all options for our previously scheduled production of Once on This Island at the Ahmanson Theatre, including the possibility of rescheduling. For all patrons currently holding tickets to this production, we ask that you please wait for us to contact you about your options. Our sales teams are set up remotely and working as quickly as possible to handle all ticketing needs resulting from the ongoing situation.

We have been looking forward to this engagement for a very long time and are hopeful that we are able to secure a future for this show.

Thank you for patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult time. Your ongoing support of Center Theatre Group is deeply appreciated and absolutely vital as we continue our mission to serve the diverse audiences of Los Angeles. We look forward to the moment when we can once again raise the curtain and celebrate the power of theatre with you.

The business of issuing ticket refunds is a workload of some magnitude. In order to allow for safe social distancing, our phone room is currently closed while we explore ways for operators to work remotely. Rest assured that we are meeting the challenge with as much speed and efficiency as we can. Please email any questions or concerns to Tickets@CTGLA.org, which we are actively monitoring. We greatly appreciate your patience.

AS OF: March 12, 2020 at 1:30pm

Dear members of our Center Theatre Group family,

As you know, the ongoing response to COVID-19/novel coronavirus has been quickly evolving. To comply with the overnight directive of the California Department of Public Health and a mandate from the County of Los Angeles, we are immediately canceling all performances of The Book of Mormon, The Antipodes, and Block Party's The Art Couple and Canyon at the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre to help lessen the spread of the virus. It is imperative that we act on the advice of government officials, public health authorities, and medical professionals.

The need to cancel a production is never easy, as it impacts many people in our community, including our dedicated staff, artists, and craftspeople. However, in these most difficult of times, we must keep our entire community safe, and that will remain the most important factor in how we continue to respond to the current moment.

As of this moment these are the only shows we have cancelled. We will continue sending updates as information becomes available. If you are concerned about future performances or productions this season, we have a flexible exchange policy. We ask that you wait a few days before reaching out to the box office so we can prioritize handling immediate ticket buyers impacted by the current cancellations.

We will keep you updated as new information becomes available. We are contacting current ticket holders via email, but please contact tickets@ctgla.org if you have any questions.

Your ongoing support of Center Theatre Group is deeply appreciated and absolutely vital as we continue our mission to serve the diverse audiences of Los Angeles by producing and presenting theatre of the highest caliber, by nurturing new artists, by attracting new audiences, and by developing youth outreach and arts education programs.

We look forward to the moment that we can once again raise the curtain at the Ahmanson, Taper, and Douglas and celebrate the power of theatre with you.

Sincerely,

Michael Ritchie, Artistic Director
