Technical Director
A technical director is a highly trained, skilled theatre professional with deep knowledge about the design and technical aspects of the art form. This person is responsible for working with designers, design technicians, and production managers to make sure all technical aspects of a production are safe and organized. A technical director knows how to use drafting software, and may be responsible for purchasing materials, creating blueprints, planning and supervising the technical crew, and managing the budget for the technical side of production. Most study technical theatre at the undergraduate level, and many get a graduate degree in technical theatre or technical direction as well.
